No-one plans an emergency and so it is vital to know what to do, and how to contact the French emergency services, in the event of one after you have set up home in France.

French emergency services - European single emergency call number

European citizens are able to call 112 to get through to emergency services across the EU. This system was introduced so Europeans need only remember one number whilst traveling in other EU countries.

Fire - 15
Sea or Lake Rescue - 1616

The French fire brigade is also equipped to deal with medical situations and provide a general French emergency service.
